£350 donation for Safe Sleep at WEBX Christmas networking

Weymouth’s Safe Sleep co-ordinator Cherry Clarke was absolutely thrilled to receive a donation of £350 at the WEBX Christmas jumper networking business breakfast.

The WEBX annual event was a lively one this year, with members not only arriving in Christmas jumpers but also full Christmas themed business suits and fancy dress. We even had Santa and an Elf!

Cherry, of Safe Sleep Weymouth, was delighted at the turnout and the generous donation of £350 from the local business members. Cherry chatted to the group about the services that Safe Sleep Weymouth offers to the homeless. The charity is headed up Julia’s House, Refresh the Churches of Weymouth and Portland in Action and The Lantern Trust.

The charities involved provide professional back-up, outreach workers, safeguarding, training and an overnight supervisor.

Those attending at Safe Sleep receive hot drinks and homecooked dinner and cakes, and porridge for breakfast. Camp beds are a welcome respite from the streets and in one venue they are able to provide a hot shower. A luxury to those living on the streets.

This truly is a worthwhile cause at a time of year when the homeless are so vulnerable.

Please contact any of the charity links above if you would like to donate.
